When I drink coffee I usually like it black.
Adding in milk and sugar is delicious, but I really like the flavor of the coffee itself without any extras. When I add them in I can’t taste the coffee itself. However, there does come the occasional afternoon when I’m craving something sweet and I need some caffeine to recharge my day. This is one of those HAVE to do laundry, mop the floor, do the dishes afternoons and I need a little kick (coffee + sugar) to get me going.
All you need is a blender, ice, strongly brewed coffee, milk, powdered sugar, and a little vanilla or almond extract. DONE!
You can add whipped cream and shave some chocolate over the top if you like, but that’s just a bonus to this already yummy drink.
You can use any kind of milk you have on hand. I have whole milk in my fridge for my girls so this is what I used… you can use half and half if you want it extra rich or skim if you want it on the lighter side. The powdered sugar works MUCH better than regular granulated sugar as it dissolves better. You can also use a syrup to sweeten the coffee. Just use the same amount as you would the powdered sugar or sweeten it to your preference. If you use a flavored milk (ie: vanilla soy milk) you don’t need to add in the vanilla/ almond extract. Just pick your favorite flavor if you have both extracts or use whichever you have on hand.
