My Favorite Recipes for Fall…
This is my final honey recipe and it’s DESSERT!
Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. ~Proverbs 16:24
I hope you will make this SWEET dessert and serve it up with some SWEET words for your loved ones! Too often we use our words to tear each other down instead of building each other up. We focus on that which is lacking in one another instead of praising each other for our strengths.
We all know how much words can affect us… at least they affect me… they can make or break my day (or my week) and can inspire or discourage alike. So, whether you write a note or bring a verbal word of encouragement along with this crumble, speak gracious words that will be sweet to the souls of those who receive them… sweet like “honeycomb” as Proverbs says. 🙂
This recipe is especially close to my heart…
I grew up visiting the small town of Hendricks in farm-country Minnesota. One of my fondest memories was having my Grandma Caroline’s homemade rhubarb jam and pie… made with rhubarb straight from her garden no less!
While I didn’t harvest my rhubarb from my backyard garden (I’m expecting my green thumb to arrive any day now…), I did pick up some from the grocery store along with some strawberries for this DELICIOUS dessert!
It’s time for a snack!
One of my favorites is Biscotti with a cup of coffee or espresso… I could snack on this ANY time of day…
You can make it more of a dessert by giving it a dip or drizzle of white chocolate. These make a GREAT gift for biscotti-lovers in your life… my extras went to my mama… which reminds me, we are due for a coffee/biscotti date mom! 🙂
The actual baking made for a good “date” with my girls… although they like to help with the measuring/ mixing process, their favorite part is…
LICKING THE BEATERS!!!…… Big surprise, huh?
Sigh… as delicious as coffee and biscotti are… there’s nothing I like more than the smiles of these two little girls! 🙂
How good does Honey Vanilla Pound Cake sound?
When I saw this honey recipe from Ina Garten I just couldn’t pass it up…
You can slice it and serve it with fresh berries and vanilla ice cream for dessert, toasted with a little butter and drizzle of honey, or just warm it up for a quick mid-day (or midnight) snack! It would be beautiful to serve at a tea party, too 🙂
AND… you could wrap it up and it would also make a terrific gift…. Hmmm, so many possibilities!
The combination of honey and chocolate did not strike me as an obvious one, but the resulting dessert convinced me they’re a match!
This couldn’t be simpler…
That is probably why it is called… Simplest Chocolate Honey Mousse
It’s time for dessert!
You didn’t think I could do “H is for Honey” and not do dessert… did you?
First up… Apple, Goat Cheese, and Honey Tartlets
Actually, I think I went a little overboard with the desserts but there were too many possibilities… we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it readied us for what will be a purely savory “I” in our Apples to Ziti line up… Can you guess what it is?
Slow cooker recipes are wonderful…
Nobody can say they don’t enjoy getting everything into one pot, not having to worry about it for 8 hours, and having a mouth-watering final product that will last for several meals as a result. This is just such a recipe…
I’ve made a lot of pulled pork in the slow cooker, but none of the recipes I’ve used have honey in them. I wanted to come up with a barbecue sauce pulled pork that included honey. My first experiment was a success! WHEW!
It’s not super sweet and you can make it as mild or as spicy as you like!
These carrots couldn’t be easier to make and the glaze is so good you could drink it…
Just really good comfort food. This is always how my mom and grandma would slice their carrots so it brings me back to childhood. It’s always good to feel like a carefree kid again, isn’t it?
I have had some savory cornbreads with ingredients like pancetta or basil or chiles… DELICIOUS!!… but still not my favorite kind. Even if I’m topping my cornbread with chili I prefer the sweet cornbread… the mix of spicy and sweet is right up my alley!
You don’t want over-the-top sweetness because cornbread is often topped with a little honey… or maple syrup if you grew up in my household… but, in my opinion, you need a little sweetness in each moist bite with or without the toppings.
These MINI versions of cornbread are fun little bites for adults and kids alike! You can pop the whole thing in your mouth… it makes eating cornbread a little more fun than the traditional square or slice. Here is the recipe if you want to skip ahead!
Honey I’m home!!
This is one of those meals that is wonderful to come home to… you could make over and over again… eat it over and over again and never be sick of it…
You can do most of the chicken ahead of time and then just leave yourself time to pre-heat the oven, put the drumettes on a baking sheet, and bake! LOVE it!
Back from vacation…
After a much-needed break from the day-to-day grind of life, we are back and were ready to see our two munchkins again… they were ready to see us too, which was SO much fun!
Oh, my heart…
Pitter-patter… LOVE these girls!
