Slow-Cooker Mexican Shredded Chicken

Slow-Cooker Mexican Shredded Chicken | Cinco de Mayo Recipes | ApplestoZiti.com

On Cinco de Mayo I posted a Vanilla Bean Banana Muffin recipe that isΒ to die for. But the thing is… banana muffins are not what you would call ‘festive’ for this holiday. Therefore, even though I didn’t have time to get step-by-step photos ready, I thought I should at least post oneΒ recipe this week in honor of Cinco de Mayo. {I will try to get a step-by-step for this recipe up soon though!}

Carbonara with a Twist

Carbonara with Leeks, Bacon, & Goat Cheese

As I write this post my sink is full. There is flour spread haphazardly on my countertops. There are toys everywhere. There are at least two loads of laundry that need folding. Maybe three. But who’s counting? Weeds need pulling outside. Our carpets need vacuuming. The bathrooms need cleaning. And our realtor could text me at any moment to say someone wants to see our house in an hour.

But I’m ignoring all that because… well… I have been wanting to share this recipe and I cannot wait any longer!

Spicy Orange-Soy Sauce with Tofu & Udon

Vegetarian Spicy Orange Soy Sauce with Tofu & Udon via applestoziti.com

I’m not what you would call a ‘Tofu’ kind of gal. It’s the last thing I would pull off the shelf at the supermarket if I needed to come up with dinner ‘on the fly’.

I mean seriously… likeΒ the last thing.

This is the second time I’ve posted a calzone recipe here on A to Z.

My family voted unanimously that they were better this time around. You’re gonna love ’em!

Easy Italian Sausage & Broccoli Calzones

Where did this past week go?!?

I haven’t a clue… if you know, let me know…

I’ve been busy working on a final Italian Sausage recipe while moving onto the “J” recipes!

Check out the CALZONE! Quick, easy, make ahead, cheap, and DELICIOUS!… Did I get everything in there…??

This recipe does it all. Except maybe the dishes… you’ll have to do those yourself… or enlist someone to help you.

Just tempt them with these calzones… they’ll have no choice but to grant you a night off from dish-duty!

These are EASY because I don’t have you make your own dough… I experimented with two store-bought doughs and was happy with both of them. They yielded slightly different results but BOTH were tasty!

A is for “Pork Chops & Applesauce”

I know I’m going past the two week mark on ‘Apples’, but I have one more dinner and two desserts to share with you before moving on to “B”. We will still start ‘C’ the first of December (two letters per month), but I’ve decided to extend “A” two days… it’s my prerogative to adjust the rules as I please… you will be happy I did… πŸ™‚

I will reveal what ‘B’ stands for on Saturday!

So, “Pork chops and Applesauce”…

I have always wondered where this phrase came from.

Whenever my mom would make pork chops my dad would always say this phrase in a funny voice and, though I thought it was funny, I never knew where it came from. My husband said the same thing… his parents would say it but he never knew where it came from.

Well, I solved my mystery (or at least I think I did)! The quote they were saying comes from Peter Brady on a Brady Bunch episode where he was imitating Humphrey Bogart. Am I wrong? Tell me if you think differently!
